American Slang Dictionary Free Download

My Blog - Learning English - American Slang Dictionary Free Download - The American Slang Dictionary was provided for those who are learning English.

Why do we have to learn slang?
It is because most native speakers use casual English, in this case, slang, all the time in their everyday conversation. Slang is a kind of informal language used by English native speakers whether in the United States or the United Kingdom and  some of other countries which English is spoken.

Slang may be different from another, I provide the American Slang Dictionary since American English is the most learned-English by non-native speakers all around the world. It is definitely important to know their daily language as we will not be able to communicate well with native speakers if we cannot use the slang.

Slang, on the other hand, is fun stuff of language to study. Sometimes you will find funny, strange pieces of slang. Perhaps, you do not find lessons or materials using slang in your schools - I do not know why most countries do not include slang to their English teaching-learning in schools and other educational institutions.

It is miserable to know that a lot of English learners, especially in schools, they consider English is a tough language to learn. That is why many students on English failed in learning after years and years struggling in schools. How if they find their English learning processes are more fun and pleasant than usual? I am sure they will have more energy in learning English and will learn more and more energetically.

In my point of view, incorporating slang to English teaching-learning is such an excellent idea to accomplish. By then they will gain new enjoyable experiences in learning English. Another expectation from this is to motivate other students and gradually improve the students' behaviors from negative into positive.

Here I give you a few examples for American slang:

  • all: very
    - I am all nervous.
    - I am all tired.
    - She is all emotional.
  • all ears: listening
    - Of course, I am all ears.
  • awesome: cool, very good
    - That's absolutely awesome.
  • to be back on one's feet: getting well from illness
    - I am now back on my feet.
  • backstabber: someone who likes to talk others' badness.
    - It turns out that Olivia is a backstabber
